| Christopher
McCauley was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1968 and relocated to Warminster,
Pennsylvania with his family at the age of five. It was in this Philadelphia
suburb that he grew up, developing an intense passion for art at a very
young age.
In 1991, he
earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Tyler School of Art and
began a career as a freelance illustrator and designer. Tiring of free
lance life, he joined American Banknote Company as a junior bank note designer
in 1994, and completed his five year apprenticeship in only four years
to become a journeyman designer.
While at ABN,
he designed many collectible and security products, including over fifty
American Commemorative Panels on a variety of stamp subjects for the US
Postal Service, and many stock certificates for the New York Stock Exchange.
It was also during this time that he began painting with pastels and received
several awards of excellence for his entries into juried exhibitions.
Painting exclusively
with pastels, Chris has become known for his
impressionistic
figure and landscape paintings. His work has been exhibited at galleries
like the 4th Street Art Gallery and Artists¹ House Gallery in Philadelphia.
He is also a member of several distinguished art groups such as The Philadelphia
Sketch Club, the Greater Norristown Art League and the Doylestown Art League.
Chris resides
in the quiet town of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, where he runs his own graphic
design and fine art studio. There, he divides his time between his painting
and his duties as Chief Banknote Designer for The Naples Bank Note Company.
He also does freelance work for several other companies.
